Hey Guys! Today I'm here to talk about Family. Now I know that this isn't about what we do on the mat or outside in the community, but I think that this blog must be made.
During our black belt test, you may be doing the workouts and
classes. But when you sign that commitment letter, it's not just you who's being affected. Families are the ones who are standing on the sidelines, cheering you on as you do a difficult class, or run a 5k. They're the ones who will stop and help. but when I say family, I don't just mean bloodline. I mean you guys as well. Our community at Aim High is my second family. You guys are the ones who cheer on one another when they're finishing, or join them so they don't feel alone. You are the ones that if we have a bad day before coming to the dojo, help work off the stress. Not a lot of people get to talk about another family they have, and I'm grateful that I can.
Last year during the ETHOS test, my family put all of our plans on
hold, so they could support me in everything I did. What my parents did for me was even better than any present. What they gave me was a place I could go to during something difficult and get encouragement and support. But this time, it's my turn to support them.
This year, my mom has joined planet Fitness and joined a year long
fitness program online. So far while on it, she's lost 25 pounds ! Overall while doing this, I can tell that she is more happy and energetic. When I lost all the weight during ETHOS, she was so proud of me, like I am for her. Me and my mom may not be on the skinnier side, so to see her like this is really amazing!
To end all of this, just remember testing team, when you're
having a bad day, you have two families to look to: The ones you train with every day, and the ones who support you every day.
