This last month has been very good. I've been struggling with maintaining a routine throughout the test, but lately, things have felt good. I've attended a number of black belt classes on a consistent basis, been going to Crossfit again, and I've been consistent with my jogging. Now, I just need to fit in an extra day of training to work on all the things I need to work on. I've realized my forms are out of practice... kind of sad considering I got best tester for forms once. :( One thing is for sure... if you don't use it, you lose it. As someone continuing on in my black belt journey, I can honestly say one of the most difficult things is maintaining what you've already learned. Without practice, you begin to forget, and even if you don't forget, it simply just doesn't look as good anymore.
If I had to give advice to the newer black belts, or candidates for first degree, it would be to make sure you set aside some time every week to review things you have already learned... mastery isn't about being an expert about something for a little while... it's about being able to maintain what you learn and improve upon it consistently.
