Well, in the next 24 hours, the Ethos test that we've worked so hard on in the last 9 months is really kicking into high gear "It's a GO mode!" All at once,I'm nervous and excited for the next three weekends of huge challenges ahead of me.
As I look back at the last 9 months,I realize that I've learned so much.I've worked with so many incredible people- both athletes that are teammates and coaches. I've set goals for myself and accepted challenges from KJN and with the help of everyone supporting me,I'm happy to say,I'm achieving every goal set! I know that I've accomplished what some people would say is impossible. I've juggled school and all of that homework, martial arts training both at the studio and lots of practice at home, learning to run 5k's,starting a new musical instrument, being a peer helper and being a student representative. Home chores never got blown off. I've had days that all I want to do is be a kid and play Minecraft in my pajamas. I've had days that I've gotten frustrated and I've definitely had days that I was so sore I didn't want to do anything!
I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point. My Moms for pushing me and loving me. My fellow Ethos testers, especially Darius for stepping up and being my mentor when he didn't have to. Also, thanks to Taylor, Jae Jae, and Serena for meeting for studying and always being willing to stay after workouts to give me a few extra reps. To Ryan, for being a great partner, especially in Escrima. To Brandy,Jessica, and even Darius' mom,for teaching me to run and being willing to stick with me to cheer me on! Really, ever single a Ethos candidate has helped me in some way over this long journey!
I know I will have to dig deep and find that energy over the next few weeks. I promise I will do my very best to not let anyone down, especially myself. It's been a long road and I'm almost at the finish line. I can't wait until KJN ties that black belt onto me. He tied my white belt on in 2008. It's been a long road. For me,I have a lot more ahead and awesome memories of my first testing experience.
